Teaching Team

Lauren Campbell

Lauren is a Bible teacher who desires to see lives transformed through the study of God’s Word. To that end, she seeks to equip women to study the Bible with greater confidence and competence. Before moving to Georgia, she worked as a licensed counselor and served as a Bible teacher through an organization called Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). She later led women’s Bible studies while on staff at her church in Austin, Texas. She currently serves as the teaching director of a women’s Bible study in Brunswick, Georgia, under the global ministry of Community Bible Study (CBS). Lauren and her husband, Cord, reside with their two teenage children on St. Simons Island, where they enjoy serving together in their local church (Community Church).

Shana Powell

Shana Powell loves to see people make an impact in the Great Commission in ways unique to their design. Her ministry started in her fourth year of college when friends involved in Cru helped introduce Shana to Christ. If you talk with her about how God grabbed her life you will hear about a wild ride and a boat trip around the world.

After marrying her Montana man, Tyler, Shana left staff and served alongside him in their local church leading work in Missional Mobilization. Their time in the church led to other nonprofit work primarily around mobilizing volunteers. Leading in a variety of capacities was developmental but the community and mission of Cru was where her heart remained. Tyler continues his ministry by serving with Valor, Cru’s ministry to cadets, midshipmen and veterans. Tyler loves to ask the men and women coming from active service, "Who is your commander and chief now?" He is serving the future leaders in ROTC and those returning from active duty on the local campus.

Sarah Helder

Sarah is a graduate of Mercer University where she played basketball. Upon graduation she ministered to athletes at the University of Arizona with Athletes in Action. During her time with Athletes in Action she twice traveled overseas to share the gospel through basketball in Africa and Europe. She then attended Dallas Theological Seminary while concurrently beginning her 13 year career coaching high school basketball. She has a passion for personal discipleship and for seeing others grow deeper in their walk with God. Sarah lives in Brunswick, Georgia with her husband Camden and their sons Calvin, Russell, and Daniel.
